The end of 2025 marked another edition of the Cork Oak Planting initiative, held at the Rio Frio Estate, where around 180 volunteers came together for a morning dedicated to sustainability and the future of the planet.
During the initiative, 4,000 cork oak trees were planted, once again reinforcing Amorim’s commitment to environmental preservation and to the legacy of the cork oak woodland (montado de sobro) - a unique ecosystem that protects biodiversity, preserves the landscape and ensures a sustainable future for generations to come.
Setting off before dawn, the volunteers from the north, from Mozelos, travelled towards the estate, where they joined volunteers from the south, from Ponte de Sor and Coruche. Together, with their hands in the soil and smiles on their faces, they planted young cork oaks that will grow and leave a lasting legacy for future generations. On the journey home, they returned with fuller hearts, inspired by the action taken and the joy of once again contributing to the Hearts of Cork cause.
