By working in a unique manner with cork, Corticeira Amorim also promotes, values ​​and ensures the viability of cork oak forests that regulate hydrological cycles, protect against soil erosion, foster relevant biodiversity, reduce the risk of desertification, and act as fire protection barriers, important natural carbon sinks and engines for economic, environmental and social development.

Full adherence to circular economy principles also contributes to this status. Corticeira Amorim conducts recycling programs in the four corners of the world. 63% of its energy needs are met from renewable sources (biomass) and its waste recovery rate is higher than 90%. It owns 29 FSC-certified industrial units, runs environmental education programmes and aims to plant 17 million cork oak trees over the next ten years, within the framework of the Forestry Intervention Project.


Currently under the leadership of the family’s fourth generation, which cultivates the same core values ​​of sobriety, ambition, pride, attitude and initiative, that have been upheld over the past 150 years of successful history, the company invests millions of euros per year in R & D + I, records 93% of its sales outside Portugal and employs more than 4,400 employees. Today, Corticeira Amorim's universe consists of 19 industrial units, ten raw material preparation units and ten joint ventures.
