Responsible behaviour

The Company’s main objective in terms of Corporate Policies and responsible corporate behaviour is to act ethically and responsibly with stakeholders, ensuring compliance with a set of principles and rules that have been defined voluntarily by Corticeira Amorim.

The Policies adopted by Corticeira Amorim reflect a set of voluntary commitments by the company in terms of ethics and economic, environmental and social responsibility.

Corticeira Amorim's intrinsic values ​​and corporate culture are guided by high standards of ethics and conduct and environmental and social responsibility. This behaviour is upheld daily in the Company and promoted to all interested parties, thereby ensuring correct development of the business.

Corticeira Amorim's Code of Business Ethics and Professional Conduct formalises a set of rules and guidelines that should orient the decisions and daily activities of Corticeira Amorim and its Employees, whether in terms of relations with other Employees, or relations with other stakeholders. Corticeira Amorim relies on effective adherence of all employees and stakeholders to these guidelines.

The Code of Business Ethics and Professional Conduct is regularly reviewed and new policies and practices are accordingly adopted, when considered to be adequate to respond to the Company's commitments and challenges.

Corticeira Amorim prevents any form of corruption and bribery, whether active or passive, whether in the private or public sector, including payments to facilitate tasks or create, maintain or promise irregular situations or special favours.

The Irregularity Reporting Procedure enables any stakeholder to confidentially notify any breach of the principles contained in the Code of Business Ethics and Professional Conduct, without any fear of reprisal. The procedure is published in Corticeira Amorim's corporate webpage, so that all recipients can access it.

Corticeira Amorim is committed to respecting and safeguarding Human Rights as a structuring principle of all the company’s activities. In particular, it is against any form of arbitrary detention, torture or execution and in favour of human dignity, non-discrimination, equal rights, safety and well-being, education, personal and professional development and the freedoms of conscience, organisation, association, opinion and expression.

Corticeira Amorim endeavours to build and foster a framework of respect for fundamental values of human rights ​​ (as proclaimed by the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights) and of labour (as proclaimed by the International Labour Organisation) which constitutes an imperative for the entire organisation and is progressively spread to other stakeholders, in particular employees, partners, customers and the supply chain.

Corticeira Amorim implements an Integrated Management System throughout its activity, that unifies the management requirements in the following dimensions: Cork Stoppers Practices, Quality, Environment, Energy, Food Safety, Forest products and chain of custody and occupational hygiene and safety. 

This System encompasses a set of management criteria aligned with the strategic objectives of the business and the commitments assumed before stakeholders, guaranteeing effective management of the environmental and social aspects.

By identifying risks and opportunities to improve its processes, Corticeira Amorim reinforces the optimisation of processes across various dimensions, strengthening the response to current sustainability challenges and stakeholders’ expectations.
