QUINTA NOVA DE NOSSA SENHORA DO CARMO LDA
Located in the midst of the Douro Demarcated Wine Region, the Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo has 85 hectares of A-rated vineyards which produce premium grapes used to make exclusive table wines and port wines. In 2005, the Rural Hotel Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, the first wine hotel in Portugal, was created following the reconstruction and refurbishment of the estate’s 18th-century manor house. There, each place is a true terrace overlooking the splendid landscape that you can enjoy while tasting excellent wines and the best dishes from the traditional gastronomy of the region. In 2008, 128 years after the train has passed there for the first time, Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo has given a new lease of life to the symbolic building of the Pinhao Railway Station. In fact, the building, its surrounding area and the houses of the former railway employees have undergone major rehabilitation works and were reborn as a tourism and cultural centre. This Wine House covers an area of 460 m2 and has a shop with an esplanade, a private room and a museum displaying a permanent collection of some 500 items collected over a 13-year period by a member of the Amorim family.
