Social Responsability
Home | Amorim Group | Social Responsability

Since its inception, the Amorim Group has sought to develop its economic activity in a sustainable manner, striving not only for profitability but also to foster optimum socio-cultural conditions, particularly through their support to local communities.

At the present time, the Amorim Group is involved in various activities aimed at local development (support for local organisation initiatives, such as sports clubs, fire fighters’ associations and educational establishments) and environmental education (for example, encouraging initiatives with various educational establishments, promoting themed conferences).

Because of their interest, relevance and impact, both nationally and internationally, the sponsorship of the following Institutions should be highlighted:

Serralves Foundation

The Fundação de Serralves (Serralves Foundation) is a pluridisciplinary Institution embedded in Oporto’s cultural life that keeps up an active profile at national and international level through the activities it carries out in the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Park, the Auditorium and the Educational Service.
What makes Serralves stand out is not only the unique combination of art and nature but also its profound commitment to the Community, promoting an ongoing dialogue with the wide range of Institutions and people who are involved in the Foundation’s initiatives.
Acknowledging the important part that this Foundation plays in promoting cultural education, with outstanding international credentials, especially in the sphere of contemporary art, the Amorim Group, Founding Member since the Fundação Serralaves was set up in 1989, has increased its emphasis on sponsoring the Fundação de Serralves and disseminating its activities, namely through the exclusive sponsorship of exhibitions by some of the most emblematic contemporary artists.

FRANÇOIS DUFRÊNE - SERRALVES

27 Jul - 14 Oct 2007 - SERRALVES MUSEUM

François Dufrêne (1930-1982) is one of the leading artists in the post-war French art scene, whose works primarily used ephemeral and performance formats and therefore remain hidden in the memories of those who observed, or came into contact with, events organised by him. This exhibition will be the first retrospective of Dufrêne’s work, presented outside France, that, for the first time ever, brings together his posters with his sound and film work.

HARALD KLINGELHÖLLER - THE SEA AT EBB TIDE DREAMED

13 Jul - 30 Sep 2007 - SERRALVES MUSEUM

This extensive exhibition focuses on recent work by Harald Klingelhöller, a Düsseldorf-based artist, while also including some pieces dating from twenty years back. Klingelhöller is known for works generated by the crossing of sculpture and language: linguistic terms are used as a generic code to determine the shape of the individual pieces – thus they consist in creating a place between the presence of the sculptural body made of materials often uncommon to sculpture such as paper and cardboard combined with stone and steel, and the absence of things referred to by letters and words.

Casa da Música Foundation

The Casa da Música Foundation, officially established in 2006, is an important centre for cultural initiatives which promotes musical language in the broadest possible sense, bringing new music and new audiences to an unparalleled space, appropriately called the Casa da Música or “House of Music”.
The Casa da Música is the first purpose-built edifice constructed in Portugal and dedicated exclusively to public performances of different kinds of music, as well as providing rehearsal rooms for orchestras and other groups, whether residents or visitors. The country may now enjoy a European standard concert hall, open to different audiences, versatile and interactive, that acts as a pole of attraction for Portuguese and international musicians.
Recognising the need and for this important cultural apparatus – and its timeliness - the Amorim Group embraces its development, through participation in its Board of Directors and through sponsorship as a Founder.
